Article summary

Add-on applications

Add-on applications are optional service components that extend the functionality of the core platform. They are designed to meet specific enterprise needs and can be managed with a high degree of flexibility. While add-ons may be included in a product price plan as part of a predefined bundle, they can also be attached individually to subscriptions, without being part of the product bundle. For more information on how to configure Addons as part of subscriptions, refer to the Subscriptions.

Like applications, add-ons can include features with configurable access rights based on user personas and groups. These access rights are centrally managed under Settings > Access,  ensuring appropriate access control across different user profiles.

What sets add-ons apart is their pricing flexibility. Service providers can define additional pricing for each add-on per product price plan. This allows for a tailored pricing strategy that aligns with the specific value and usage of each add-on component. This flexible model enables:

  • Customization of product bundles based on enterprise-specific needs.
  • Modular pricing aligned with actual service consumption.
  • Scalable configuration and reuse of functional components.

For more information on how to configure pricing for add-ons, refer to the  Product price plan

Use cases for Add-on applications

  • Subscription-Specific Add-ons: Other add-ons may address unique client requirements and are not suitable for bundling in standard product plans. For instance, an enterprise customer may require a tailored Asset Management module for a specific business process. In this case, the add-on can be directly attached to their subscription without modifying the general product bundle.
  • Reusable Add-ons for Multiple Clients: Certain add-on applications (e.g. Custom DomainSingle Sign-On) may be broadly applicable across clients and bundled into multiple product plans. These are configured centrally and reused wherever needed, ensuring consistency and scalability in service delivery.
