Article summary

What are Applications in Agile.Now?

Applications represent a logical set of capabilities that deliver specific business functionality and have a purpose. Each application may consist of components such as end-user interfaces, business logic, data model and backend utilities.

Applications can be interconnected. When one application is used by multiple other applications for supporting capabilities, these are referred to as linked applications. For example, in a healthcare platform, Nursing and Clinical applications both rely on a Patient application. Here, the Patient application acts as a linked component supporting the others.

The application may include specific Features. Access to these features may require restriction based on the user persona and roles. More about Feature access management can be found here in Access Management.

At login: Available applications are displayed in the selection list during the login process, allowing users to choose their desired application immediately.

Application Types

An application may serve different purposes:

  • End-user applications: Applications that are mainly for end users, offering specific business functionality.
    In-App Navigation:
Once logged in, users can access and switch between other available applications from the top-right corner of the main menu.

When an application is selected—either during login or from within the main menu—the user is directly redirected to the chosen application without additional steps.

  • System applications: These applications typically provide system configuration functions such as Settings or Preferences. These applications appear in the top-right corner of the main menu for ease of access.

Managing Applications

A complete list of all applications is available through the UI, making it easy to search and select applications. Users can also see the last time each application was synchronised with the platform.

Applictaion Synchronization

Synchronisation ensures that any changes deployed in the application, such as modifications to its structure, linked applications, or features, are reflected in the Agile. Now SaaS platform without requiring any programming effort.

How to synchronise: To update application information, use the "Synchronise Application" function on the Application List page.

Key benefit of synchronisation: Synchronisation ensures that product bundles using applications are automatically updated, eliminating the need for any additional custom development each time an application is updated.

Application Creation

You can create new applications via the user interface. These are typically referred to as "virtual applications".  These applications are not listed on Access management and are ideal for representing non-programmatic offerings, such as exclusive gift cards, loyalty programs or promotions a part of the product bundles.

Key benefit: By enabling customizable, modular creation of these offerings, enterprises gain the flexibility to tailor products and promotions to specific customer needs or market opportunities.

Application Modification

Applications can be renamed, and their linked features can be configured directly through the user interface.

Applications may have different statuses (In Progress, Active, Cancelled). Only "active" applications can be included in product bundles.

Manual update needed for Subscription product bundle changes
Changes made in applications that are associated to product bundles will not automatically reflect in Active subscriptions. To apply changes, the subscription must be manually synchronised. You find more here in Subscription
